How to take Photos
Taking good photos helps your listing. We recommend taking many photos and choosing the best 3~10 photos for each listing.
That should include wide shots, showing the whole product or most of it when it's racking. Showing a close-up of connectors, driver area, and anything of interest. Show issues and repair areas. Serial plates, etc.
When taking photos with your phone, please make those shots in landscape orientation. (horizontal) Photos are displayed that way in 4:3 aspect ratio.
Portrait-oriented photos will be shrunk to fit our platform.
Do not add bars to portrait-oriented photos. X-SPLEX will add those automatically.
Phones take photos in 4:3 default and video in 16:9 default. Please leave your phone on default for photos. If you do use 16:9 for photos, they will be reduced and may have bars on the top or bottom or displayed at the top of the gallery area, depending on the browser and device.
We recommend not using the flash when taking photos. Today's cameras on our smartphones take great to good pictures without a flash as long as they are not night shots.
HEIC format not compatible for uploading. (iPhone's default format) You will need to change the settings on your iPhone to save as JPEG or convert to JPG or PNG format on your computer.
Please convert your image to JPG/jpeg or PNG formats. Your phone has settings for this or convert for export.
We recommend uploading images that are 1600x1200 pixels. Higher resolution will not be displayed and may limit your image uploads.
Recommended phones:
iPhones, Samsung S-series and Pixel phones take the best photos. They will capture details, even without a flash.
Other phones may be blurry but will be accepted for uploading.
We recommend not using low-resolution images such as 640x480. 1600x1200 is optimal.
